I don’t know how long this trip will be and when the work will be done, or what we can catch. Notawiy captains the vessel, nistes keeps the trip jolly and feeds us, and nisîmis cleans the skins for our crafts. I’m searching for where I belong in the midst of this system of celestial bodies given by Creator. Could I be a revolving planet casting shadows in the void, an astroid zipping through the gravity of larger objects, maybe an alien getting caught in the black hole of an exploded star. I hold space in the palm of my hand, where my fishing pole leads to another world I want to be a part of. There is so much work to do, it overwhelms and occupies my mind. Kinosew is out there, and I am going to find it.
Gone | ᓅᒋᑭᓄᓭᐁᐧᐃᐧᐣ [nôcikinosewewin] explores the familial systems and traditions passed down through the generations. I am in the midst of finding a place of security in relation to my ancestors and what it looks like to carry on their legacies while coping with colonialism. I access cultural connections and self-reflection through my playful imagination of myself as an outer alien finding its way home.
